History in the making. That's what the fans at West Side Park II got to see today, when Chicago (N) outplayed the Braves 9-4. Reinaldo Alvarez of the Cubs came to the plate 5 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Boston (N).

In the postgame press conference the Boston (N) skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink."

R. Alvarez doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and doubled in the 7th.

This season Alvarez is batting .239 with 23 RBIs, 39 runs scored and no home runs.
