Sunday, October 29th, 2017: NL's Premier Hitter for 2017 Named
The National League has made it official -- Tony Rodriguez is the winner of the Silver Slugger.

In the 2017 season, the New York (N) shortstop stood out with a .339 batting average, 41 doubles, 2 triples, 40 home runs and 121 RBIs. Rodriguez also had 91 walks, posted a .430 on-base percentage and scored 100 times.

This weekend the SION Baseball Writers Association will present the trophy to Rodriguez for being the NL's top-rated batter. He will receive it at the association's annual awards dinner.
Sunday, September 10th, 2017: Giants Get Shutout Win Over Brooklyn
He didn't put a spell on them. It wasn't black magic, it was just old-fashioned good pitching. That's how Michael Keith of the New York (N) Giants blanked the Brooklyn Dodgers 6-0.

After tossing a complete game 3-hit shutout, he was all smiles, saying, "I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game. I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."

His own skipper said, "He's at his best when he gets ahead of the hitters." Keith walked 1 and struck out 7 in the victory.

The Dodgers manager commented on their lack of success against him, saying, "He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes."

This season Keith has worked 156.2 innings with 106 strikeouts en route to a 13-6 record and a 2.99 ERA.
Monday, September 4th, 2017: Week's Top Performer Honored by NL
John Fons of the New York (N) Giants cruised to National League Player of the Week honors after putting together one of the finest stretches in his career last week.

The second baseman batted .481 (13-27) with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

Fons is hitting .299 so far this season with 80 RBIs and 89 runs scored. He has 133 hits including 22 home runs, 78 walks and .400 OBP.
