Breaking News
Thursday, August 24th, 2017: Charles Dunkin Blanks Riverside
Charles Dunkin spun his magic in a 6-0 shutout victory, allowing 3 hits while totaling 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.

The Scottsdale pitcher put quite a spell on Riverside in a strong performance.

"I had a lot of good things working in this one," Dunkin said. "I worked both sides of the plate. I was rarely behind in the count."

On his 2017 stats sheet Dunkin shows a 14-14 record, 30 starts, 218.2 innings, 158 strikeouts and a 3.58 ERA.
Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017: Gutierrez Strong Arms Scarabs in Shutout
"That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," the Stellars manager told reporters after today's game.

The Scarabs ran into a buzzsaw as Manuel Gutierrez cut them down to size 4-0 with a 4-hit shutout.

His skipper added, "He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."

In the complete game whitewash the Sheldon hurler doled out no walks and registered 7 strikeouts.

In the postgame press conference his catcher said, "Manuel goes out there and just goes about his business. I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. You can call any pitch and you know where he's going to be."

Gutierrez also got some praise from the Scottsdale manager.

"He really kept us in check today. Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away... we took some pathetic swings."

This season-to-date Gutierrez has 10 wins and 6 losses and a 2.01 ERA.
Friday, August 18th, 2017: Lazo Sharp, Whitewashes Squirrels
David Lazo had the Paradise Squirrels dancing to his tune today with a sparkling 5-0 shutout performance for the Scottsdale Scarabs. He gave up 6 hits and collected no walks and 4 strikeouts.

Paradise hitters were bewildered throughout the game by his delivery.

The opposing manager said, "When you face a guy who hides the ball like he does, it takes a couple of at-bats to try to find his release point. We just never figured him out."

To this point in the season Lazo has 10 wins and 13 losses and a 3.59 ERA.
