| Breaking News | _Phillies.jpg) | Sunday, September 17th, 2017: SL2 Gives Best Pitcher Award The 2017 Sub League 2 Outstanding Pitcher Award winner is John Purvis of Colorado Springs Steamers.
He started 29 games and compiled a 17-5 record with an ERA of 1.71 in 226.1 innings with 177 strikeouts.
The SION Baseball Writers Association will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting. |  | Monday, September 4th, 2017: Vendetta Win! Vendetta Win! "Anticipatin' celebratin'" was the Chula Vista clubhouse slogan for the Round 1 this year -- and celebrate they did, when they beat the Colorado Springs Steamers 3-2 in the series.
The Vendetta won the deciding game today 3-2 at Vendetta Ballpark for their 1st IPL Triple A crown.
During the 2017 regular season, they registered a 85-45 mark and finished first in the Sub League 1 race. |  | Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017: Villalpando Whitewashes Seawolves The Colorado Springs manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
He was talking about Ruperto Villalpando, who had just hurled a fine 3-hit shutout over the Durham Seawolves. He had 4 strikeouts and 2 walks in the Colorado Springs 3-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," the Durham manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
