| Breaking News |  | Thursday, September 7th, 2017: Sub League 1 Best Pitcher Named To be a young man playing professional baseball is enough for most 25-year-olds. To play it well is even better. Well, Alejandro Cobas of the Greensboro Travelers took it to an even higher level today, when the Sub League 1 named him the Outstanding Pitcher Award winner for the 2017 campaign.
He put together a 17-3 record in 26 starts with 104 strikeouts in 204 innings and a 2.38 ERA.
The SION Baseball Writers Association will present Cobas his trophy at the annual gathering this weekend. |  | Friday, August 25th, 2017: Toledo Tops Greensboro It was a storybook year for the Toledo Diamondcutters as they closed out a 3-0 series win over the Greensboro Travelers to claim the 2017 Round 1. They wrapped it up with a 10-4 victory to cap an incredible season and brought home their 1st championship.
The Diamondcutters manager gave his view of the series, "We had a lot of things going for us, offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes win a Round 1."
"We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year," said the Travelers manager. "They played better baseball than us and they beat us."
During the Sub League 2 regular season Toledo put up a 76-44 record and finished first. |  | Tuesday, August 15th, 2017: Travelers Cobas Silences Cincinnati Greensboro's Alejandro Cobas breezed through the Mechanics lineup today, collecting a 5-hit shutout and a 5-0 victory along the way. Cobas fanned 4 as well.
"I didn't really feel like I had my game today," Cobas confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have."
Cobas has started 25 times this year, pitched 199 innings, fanned 101 batters and walked 64.
