| Breaking News |  | Monday, September 18th, 2017: Cumpiano Nabs SL1 Outstanding Hitter Award
This year Sub League 1 pitching was a feast fit for a king -- and Joey Cumpiano, "The King of Swing," really feasted on them and ripped them royally. The talented Burns Flat second baseman produced a .424 batting average, 100 hits, 26 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs, 54 RBIs, and 30 runs.
That kind of hitting earned him the SL1 Outstanding Hitter Award for 2017.
This weekend Cumpiano will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner.

| Monday, August 7th, 2017: Sub League 1 Awards Best Batter Prize
This week's top performer in the Sub League 1 was center fielder Ronald Fleming of the Burns Flat Buckshots.
He pounded out a .478 average and was voted the Player of the Week. Over the last week Fleming connected for 11 hits in 23 at-bats and 1 home run, drove in 3 runs and scored 7 times.
So far this season Fleming is batting .306 with 2 home runs, 19 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has 56 hits in 183 at-bats, 20 walks and a .368 OBP. Fleming has played in 43 games.

| Tuesday, August 1st, 2017: SL1 Top Batter Trophy Won by Broxton
Burns Flat right fielder George Broxton took home the Sub League 1 Batter of the Month Trophy for July.
He put up some solid numbers, including a .377 batting average and .482 on-base percentage with 43 hits, no home runs, 18 RBIs and 21 runs scored.
Thus far this season Broxton is hitting .348 with no home runs, 24 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has 54 hits in 155 at-bats and has played in 38 games.
